Hilda Johnson Hunt

     Mrs. Hilda Johnson Hunt, age 91, of Valley, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, April 18th, 2023 at her residence.

     Hilda was born on July 9th, 1931 in Langdale, Alabama to the late Ernest A. and Lovie Lou Turner Johnson. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shawmut. She was a classic and traditional lady who loved her family and the Lord. She was known for her gentleness and her determined nature. She believed in a strong work ethic, which she instilled in her family members.

     She was a former employee of Alabama Power who retired after over 30 years with the company. She loved going to work and serving her customers.

     Hilda is survived by her children, Nancy Hunt Chambley (Steve) of Valley, AL, Susan Hunt Reaves (Bobby) of Derby, KS, and Paul Hunt of Scottsdale, AZ; grandchildren, Cole Chambley (Melissa) of Chesapeake, VA, Ben Chambley (Hillary) of Williamsburg, VA, Adam Chambley (Abigail) of Atlanta, GA, Matthew Reaves of Derby, KS, Stephanie Reaves Knight (Cody) of Abilene, TX, Austin Hunt of Richmond, VA, and Jason Hunt of North Carolina; great grandchildren, Madison Chambley, Carmen McManus, Autumn Chambley, Audrey Chambley, Hayes Chambley, Sam Chambley, Tyson Reaves, Kayson Knight, and Kynlee Knight; nieces and nephews, John Welker (Patsy) of Black Mountain, NC, Jody Welker (Sharon) of Black Mountain, NC, and Marty W. Clark (Joe) of Jacksonville, FL; a host of great nieces and nephews.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert Edward Hunt; sister, Martha Lou Johnson Welker; daughter in law, Lorraine Baird Hunt.

     Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 24th, 2023 at 11:00 AM (EST) at the First Baptist Church of Shawmut. Interment will follow in Johnson Memorial Gardens. The Reverend Chuck Anderson will officiate. Hilda’s family will receive friends Monday morning from 10:00 AM (EST) until the service hour at the church.
