James Farr Obituary

James Ervin Farr, known affectionately as James by those who knew him best, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2024, at the age of 69. Born on August 15, 1955, in Langdale, Alabama, James spent his life imbued with the spirit of the close-knit community that raised him.

James's formative years were spent under the nurturing guidance of his mother, Murtis Farr, and alongside his loving siblings, brother Jessie Mack Farr and sister Teresa Meadows. The bond he shared with his brother-in-law Dewey Hood, Mike Davis, and Danny Meadows was one of mutual respect and camaraderie, marked by numerous cherished moments.

Love found a permanent residence in James's heart when he met and later married his devoted wife, Peggy Farr. Their union was further blessed with the birth of their son, Shane Farr, who James loved and protected with all he had. His role as a husband and father was one he cherished and excelled at, proving to be both loving and kind in every gesture.

James was a man whose hands were never idle, owing much to his reputation as a hardworking individual. He made sure that every task he undertook was completed with the utmost care and attention to detail. This was also evident in how he maintained his home and supported his family, always ensuring that they were well-cared for and safe. His canine companion, Baby Boy, was a source of joy and friendship, and their bond was indicative of James's gentle and caring nature.

His character was an amalgamation of love, kindness, and an indisputable aptitude for being handy. People naturally gravitated towards James, drawn by his compassionate demeanor and genuine concern for others. Family gatherings would often find him at the center, making everyone laugh and feel at home.

While James is dearly missed, his legacy lives on through his family. He is survived by his wife, Peggy; son, Shane; his mother, Murtis; siblings, Jessie and Teresa; brothers-in-law Dewey, Mike, and Danny; and his adoring nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Jessie H. Farr, as well as his dear in-laws, Earl and Betty Hood, and sister-in-law, Shirley Davis.

James Ervin Farr will always be remembered as a man of great virtue, a beacon of love and protection for his family, and a friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of those he touched for many years to come.
