James "Jimmy" Grady Waites

  James “Jimmy” Grady Waites of Cusseta, Alabama, passed away on October 24, 2025, at his residence. Jimmy was born on May 6, 1965, in Valley, Alabama, to Debra McDonald and the late Grady Waites. He enjoyed an array of outdoors activities, guns, and was an avid, diehard Alabama Football fan.

  Jimmy is preceded in death by, Harris “Harry” McDonald, as well as his father, Grady Waites, sisters, Wanda Waites and Misty Waites, grandparents, Bill and Polly Gough and John and Evola Waites, niece, Tristan Gore.

  Survivors include, son, Matthew Courson, mother, Debra McDonald, brothers, Ronnie Waites (Marcella) and John McDonald (Alisa), sisters, Kim Zapata (Fernando) and Melissa Waites, step-mom, Judy Coleman (Allen), several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

  Services for Jimmy will be held at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home, Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at 2:30 P.M. (EST). Pastor Rusty Letson officiating.

  Visitation will be held at the funeral home, Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. (EST).
