James Michael "Mike" Smith

Mr. James Michael “Mike” Smith, 66, of Valley, AL passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 11:00 AM EST from Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with Rev. Steve York officiating.  Burial will follow in Johnson Memorial Gardens in Valley.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM EST at the funeral home. 

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 44 ½ years, Cindy Smith; children, Amy Blackstock (Judson) & Craig Smith; father, James William Smith, brother, Steve Smith (Helen), sister, Barbara Rodgers (Darryl); two grandchildren, Hannah Grace & Joshua Blackstock; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Murphy Smith.

Mr. Smith was born in Opelika, AL on June 5, 1952.  He was the Assistant Manager of the Auburn and Opelika A & P Grocery Store and later worked at Knauf Fiberglass in Lanett.  Mr. Smith was a member of the Journey Church in Valley.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother.  He was affectionately called “Bo” by his grandchildren, who were the joy of his life.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Journey Church in Valley or to Trinity Christian School in Opelika.
