Mrs. Janice A. "Gussie" Hester, 86, of Marietta, Ga. passed away on Monday, January 27, 2014 at Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Ga.

     Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM (EST), Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley, Al. with the Rev. Larry Bruner officiating.  Interment will follow at Shawmut Cemetery in Valley.  The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.

     Mrs. Hester is survived by her daughter, Jan (Henry) Stephens of Canton, Ga.; two grandsons, Joseph Fiouris and Kevin Tracy, both of Canton, Ga.; brother, George (Pam) Allen of Lanett, Al.; sister, Barbara Miles of Huguley, Al.; two special nieces, Julie (Dave) Loesch of Rome, Ga. and Hope (David) Price of Dallas, Ga.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Lindsay K. Hester; brother, Ted Allen; sister, Doris Messer.

     Mrs. Hester was born on July 18, 1927 in Five Points, Al.  She was a member of Fair Oaks United Methodist Church in Marietta, Ga.  She enjoyed spending time with her friends and staying on the "Backwater".  Over the years she did a lot of volumteer work for the Cobb County, Ga. school system.  She will be missed by many.
