Jerry Carter Cofield Obituary

 

Mr. Jerry Carter Cofield, age 71, of Valley passed away on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2020 in Auburn, Alabama.

Mr. Cofield was born in Carrollton, Georgia on November 26th, 1948 to the late Ocie Cofield and Margaret Brazell.  He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Brandy Cofield; brothers, Randy Cofield, Michael Cofield; sisters, Vickie McWhorter, Tammy Chambers.

Jerry was a kind, sweet and caring man.  In his younger years, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends riding the back roads and playing golf.

He was an avid Auburn University football fan and loved watching the Auburn Tigers play football. 

He worked in the textile mills from the age of 16 until his retirement after 46 years of service. During this time, the company went through several changes and was known as West Point Manufacturing, West Point Pepperell, and West Point Stevens.  He retired as a maintenance supervisor from West Point Stevens.

He is survived by his brother, Pat Cofield, Valley; close family friends, Arvella Anderson, and Brandy Cortes; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 29th, 2020 at 11:00A.M. EDT at the Resthaven Cemetery in Lanett.  The Reverend Harvey Miller officiating.  His family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6:00P.M. EDT until 8:00P.M. EDT.
