Mr. Jessie Donald “Duck” Simms, age 87, of Lanett, Alabama passed away on Wednesday October 22, 2025, at Decatur Morgan Hospital in Decatur, Alabama. He was born August 16, 1938, to Jim Frank Sr. and Ludie Ward Simms.
Mr. Simms is survived by his daughters, Kelli Simms Powers and Kadi Simms Dobson; his sister Rebecca Simms Smith; Sister-in-Law, Peggy Scott Simms and many nieces and nephews; grandchildren, William Simms (Charlotte), Sydney Powers Burns (Blake), Anna Evelyn Simms, Mark Allen Powers, and Kennedy Kathryn Dobson. He also has three great grandchildren, Simms Harrison Burns, Keller Blakeney Burns, Mary Rogers Nichols Simms and his lifelong friend Roger Sorrell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters, his wife Paula Kay Simms of 55 years, and his son Keri Donald Simms.
He retired from Uniroyal in Opelika after 38 years of service. He was an avid Alabama football fan and loved to fish on Lake Martin! He had a heart of gold and loved his family so much!
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, November 1st, 2025, at 11:00 am EST at the Lanett United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends Saturday morning at 10:00 am EST until the service hour at the church. A graveside will follow in Oakwood cemetery.
