Jimmy Christopher "Chris" Dewberry, known affectionately to many as Chris, gained his heavenly wings on September 13, 2023, in his hometown of Langdale, Alabama. Born on December 4, 1963, Chris lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure.
Chris was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, where he served our country with distinction and honor. His brothers in the Navy held a special place in his heart, and he often spoke of the camaraderie and bonds formed during his service. His dedication to his country was only surpassed by his love for his family and friends.
Chris was a quiet thinker, often found contemplating life's mysteries while cruising down the open highway on his beloved motorcycle. His love for the road may have only been matched by his love for the University of Alabama football team.
A loving father, he is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth, and son-in-law, Brian Gibson. His love extended to his grandchildren, Payton Bayles and William Poss, who brought him immense joy. Chris's sisters, Nancy Mask and Renea Dewberry, along with brother-in-law Delmer, were a constant source of support and love throughout his life. His loyal companion, Rufus, was always by his side, providing comfort and companionship. Chris's love for his family was evident in his actions and words, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication.
Chris was known for his sense of humor, often lightening the mood with his quick wit. His interesting stories and anecdotes kept his family and friends entertained and his memory will continue to bring smiles to their faces. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Monday, September 18, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. EDT at the Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, Alabama. His family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6:00 P.M. EDT until 8:00 P.M. EDT
