John "Jay" Walker Matthews, III Obituary

Mr. John “Jay” Walker Matthews, III, 73, a resident of Valley, AL passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at the EAMC Lanier Nursing Home in Valley.

Mr. Matthews was born in Ft. Benning, GA on June 4, 1947. He enjoyed fishing, playing war games, camping, the outdoors, and especially the beach.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Johnson Matthews; daughter, Heather Matthews; son, Sam (Judy) Hester; special daughter, Stephanie Stephens; sister, Cay (George) Ellis; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny & Billie Matthews and a son, Mike Hester.

A memorial service will be announced later by the family and Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chattahoochee Hospice.
