John R. Carmichael

     Mr. John R. Carmichael, age 88, of Lanett, Alabama passed away on Thursday, July 29th, 2021, at his residence. He was born on January 27th, 1933, in Penton, Alabama.

     Mr. Carmichael is survived by his wife of 61 years, Charlotte Lanier Carmichael; children, Robert Carmichael (Leta), LuAnne Barber (Jerry), and Mark Carmichael (Lara); grandchildren, Andrew Barber (Brittany), Lindsey Mitchell (Brandon), Bishop Carmichael, Baylee Carmichael, and Anna Carmichael; great grandchildren, Austin Barber, Ava Barber, and Kaden Mitchell; sister, Jeanine Shaw.

     He was preceded in death by his sister, Lanell Ogletree.

     Mr. Carmichael was associated with Southern Union State Community College for over 50 years, where he retired as Dean of Instruction. He was very proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

     Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 31st, 2021, at 2:00 PM (EDT) at the graveside in Shawmut Cemetery. The Reverend Mark McCarty will officiate. No visitation is planned.
