Joseph Benjamin Yearwood, of Cusseta, Alabama, known affectionately as Joe to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, at the age of 77, in Auburn, Alabama. Born on January 17, 1948, in Heard County, Georgia,

Joe life was a testament to his unwavering faith, creative spirit, and intelligent mind. Joe journey began as the beloved son of Lee Yearwood and Myrtie Folds Yearwood.

His early years were filled with the sounds of gospel music, which he began singing at the tender age of seven. By the age of sixteen, Joe had found his calling as a preacher, sharing his faith and uplifting others with his words and melodies. He started writing gospel music 29 years ago, further expressing his devotion and talent.

In his professional life, Joe was a self-employed truck driver for J & P Express, a career that allowed him to travel extensively. His love for the open road was only surpassed by his passion for preaching and singing, which took him to numerous locations, spreading joy and inspiration through his performances.

Joe legacy is carried on by his loving wife, Patricia Yearwood, and their children: Dell Clay, Pam Huddleston (married to Tim), David Yearwood (married to Kylie), Tiffiney Simpson (married to Timothy), and Mitchell Sheppard (married to Tere). He was a cherished grandfather to Joshua Clay (married to Candace), Jonathan Clay (married to Jessica), Hannah Allen (married to Caleb), Meghan Norton (married to Jake), Luke Huddleston, Kathryn Yearwood, Ethan Yearwood, Sam Yearwood, Christopher Simpson (married to Britnee), Carleigh Frazier (married to Evan), and Cerigan Kraemer (married to Brandon). His eleven great-grandchildren will also hold dear the memories of their kind-hearted great-grandfather.  Joe is also survived by his brothers, Thomas Yearwood and Mike Yearwood (married to Susan)

Joe was preceded in death by his daughter, Jan Yearwood; Roger Yearwood, Shirley Yearwood, J.T. Yearwood, and his parents, Lee Yearwood and Myrtie Folds Yearwood.

He leaves behind a family that will forever honor his memory and continue to live by the values he exemplified throughout his life. Those who knew Joe will remember him as a faith-filled man who approached every aspect of life with a creative and intelligent outlook. His ability to weave together words and music to touch the hearts of others was unparalleled. Joe's presence was a source of strength and comfort to many, and his influence will continue to be felt through the lives he touched. Joe's love extended beyond his family and friends to his loyal dog, Izzy, who was a constant companion and source of joy in his later years. Together, they shared many peaceful moments creating a bond that was truly special.

As we bid farewell to Joseph Benjamin Yearwood, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul that enriched the lives of so many. His was a journey of purpose and passion, marked by the love he gave and the faith he shared. Joseph's voice may have fallen silent, but the echoes of his songs and sermons will resonate for generations to come.

A memorial service for Joe will be held 2:30 P.M. (EST), Saturday, February 22, 2025, in the chapel of Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley. Brother Aaron Pruitt and Brother Joseph Bonner officiating.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
