Josephine Caldwell Obituary

Mrs. Josephine VanHouten Caldwell, 79, a resident of Valley, AL passed away Monday, October 12, 2020 at her residence. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM EST on Thursday, October 15, 2020 from Shawmut Cemetery with Rev. Chuck Anderson officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 – 7:00 PM EST at the funeral home. Those attending are asked to observe the CDC & ADPH guidelines regarding the use of mask and social distancing.

Survivors include her sons, Bodie Caldwell & Scott Caldwell (Wanda); three grandchildren, B. C. Caldwell (Amanda), Michael Caldwell (Whitney), & Magen Caldwell; three great-grandchildren, Max Caldwell & Timothy & Tanner Smith; sisters, Billie Jean Bartlett (Jimmy), Juanita Crowder (Leslie), Judy Sharpe (John); brothers, John Douglas VanHouten, Jr. & Barry VanHouten (Carolyn); several nieces & nephews; special friends, Liz Walker & Peggy Morrow; and her caregivers, Melissa, Lee, Katie & Destiny Borders. Mrs. Caldwell was preceded in death by her husband, B.C. Caldwell, a son, Allen Lee Caldwell, and her parents, John Douglas VanHouten, Sr. and Madge Terry VanHouten.

She was born on May 15, 1941 in West Point, GA.
