Laurie Simpson Obituary

Laurie Gauntt Simpson, known affectionately as Laurie by her loved ones, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025, at the age of 67 in Ozark, Alabama. Born on April 22, 1957, in Valley, Alabama, Laurie's life was a testament to the power of kindness, generosity, and the enduring strength of familial bonds.

Laurie's early years in Valley were filled with the warmth of a close-knit community and the joys of Southern living. Her infectious laughter and loving nature were a beacon of light to all who knew her. Laurie's life was one of dedication and love, which shone brightly through her relationships with friends and family.

She was the beloved matriarch of her family, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Laurie is survived by her devoted daughter, Mandy (Bubba) Johnson; her caring sister, Martha Gauntt; her supportive sister-in-law, Sally Scott; her adoring grandchildren, Britt (Kodie) Johnson, Joe Johnson, Hunter (Cheryl) Johnson, and Jena (Robbie) Creed; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles who will miss her deeply. Laurie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Billy Simpson; her parents, Tom and Faye Gauntt; and her brother, Steve Gauntt.

Laurie's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with her passions and interests. She had an unparalleled love for the beach, where she found peace in the rhythm of the waves and solace in the vastness of the ocean.

Those who knew Laurie would describe her as the epitome of loving kindness. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she was always the first to offer help to anyone in need. Her presence was a comfort, her advice was sought after, and her ability to listen made her a confidant to many.

Laurie's life was a journey of love, laughter, and selfless giving. As we say goodbye, we also celebrate the profound impact she had on each of us. Her spirit will continue to guide and inspire those who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her grace.
