Lucy May Williams Jones Obituary

We come to you with heavy hearts and fond memories as we celebrate the life of Lucy May Williams Jones, affectionately known to all of us as May. On September 5th, 2024, May passed away peacefully at her residence in Columbus, Georgia, encircled by the love of her devoted family. May was born on the picturesque autumn day of October 19th, 1934, in Valley, Alabama, and brought joy into the lives of everyone she touched.

May journeyed through life guided by faith and love, leaving an indelible mark on her community. She exemplified what it meant to be a kind and gentle soul. As a mother and grandmother, May's nurturing spirit was her gift to her children, Curtis LaRue Jones with spouse Cindy Ann, Linda Christine Jones Claridy with her husband Jared, and Jennifer Lee Jones. Her legacy flourishes through her grandchildren Shane Everett Jones, Robert Jones, Justin Nipper, Jared Claridy, Jr., Brandon Claridy, Ronald Gene Lee, Jr., and Anthony Burton Lee, as well as her treasured great-grandchildren Cheyenne Hardee, Maddox Wayne Jones, Lakelynn, L.T., Emersyn Lee, Lawsyn Lee, Laikyn Lee, Sophia Lee, Paisley Lee, and Kaden Lee. She was a beloved sister-in-law to Linda L. Craven and an aunt with an extensive brood of nieces and nephews spanning two generations.

May was a pillar of strength and love, a testament to her faith and her ability to create warmth and joy within her family. Though she now joins her beloved husband, Wayne C. Jones, her parents, Oscar and Mattie Williams, and her eleven siblings in eternal rest, the light of her spirit remains undimmed.

In life, May found pleasure in the simplicity of a fishing line cast on a sunny day, and relished cheering on her favorite teams, the Atlanta Braves, the Alabama Crimson Tide, and the University of Georgia, in the company of her children. May's love and her gentle kindness will forever be remembered by those who were fortunate enough to know her. Lucy May Williams Jones, a beacon of love, leaves behind a legacy of grace and compassion that will resonate through generations.
