Manuel D. Garner, III Obituary

     Mr. Manuel D. Garner, III, 74, of Opelika, Alabama passed away on Thursday, May 6th, 2021 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. He was born on October 16th, 1946 in West Point, Georgia to the late Manuel D. Garner, Jr. and Frances Rutherford.

     Mr. Garner is survived by his wife, Emily White Garner; sons, Mickey (Lisa) Garner and Grant (Susan) Garner; grandchildren, Danielle Garner, Autumn Garner, Brianna Dunn (Michael) Taylor, Mitch Dunn, Erin Garner, and Logan Garner; great granddaughter, Addison Garner; several nieces and nephews.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Misti Garner Dunn; brother, Steve Garner.

     Mr. Garner was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. who served in Vietnam. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who always looked forward to his yearly vacations with his family to the beach.

     A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 11th, 2021 at 1:00 PM (EST) at the Lanett Congregational Christian Church. Pastor Mark McCarty will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday from noon (EST) until the service hour at the church.

     In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Lanett Congregational Christian Church, P. O. Box 609, Lanett, Alabama 36863, First Christian Church of Riverview, P. O. Box 1497, Valley, Alabama 36854, or to Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org in his memory.
