“Mimommy”

       Marianne G. Elliott 88, went home to be with our Lord on June 29th, 2021 surrounded by her family at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.  She was born October 14th, 1932, in Langdale, AL to John W. and Mary B. Gillenwaters.

     Marianne attended Valley High School.  On July 2nd, 1959 she married the love of her life, Bobby O. Elliott.  They spent the next 62 years sharing every moment loving and supporting each other.  She was a devoted wife.  A loving mother and grandmother.  A friend and teacher to so many.  She was a woman who loved her country and put God first in all she did.

     She was preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Gillenwaters, an older brother Frank Gillenwaters, and a younger sister Eloise Gillenwaters Johns.

     She is survived by her husband Bobby O. Elliott, three children – Kathy Campbell (the late Chip) of Leeds, Danny Hinkle (Beverly) of Cullman, and Karen Poer (Wayne) of Valley; three grandchildren – Kevin Campbell (Jennifer) of Trussville, Bobby Poer (Mandy) of Valley, and Katie Bowens (Corey) of Cullman; five great-grandchildren – Jessica Campbell, Logan Poer (Casey), Morgan Campbell, Anna Campbell and John C. Bowens; three great-great-grandchildren – Indigo, Mason and Elijah.  As well as a younger brother W.L. Gillenwaters (Peggy) of Valley, brother-in-law Charles Elliott (Jan) of Lanett and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

     The visitation will be held at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley at 2:00P.M. EDT with the service beginning at 3:00P.M. EDT on July 3rd, 2021 with interment following in Langdale Cemetery.  The Reverend David Bradshaw will officiate the services.
