Marion Vincent Tabor Obituary

Mr. Marion Vincent Tabor, age 75, of Valley, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, December 8th, 2021 at his residence.

Marion was born in Germany in 1946. He lived there until he was ten years old. During his time there he displayed indications that he could have a mischievous streak by accidentally by burning down the family pet’s doghouse. His family’s trip to the United States on a ship was marred be a storm at sea that resulted in much seasickness. The family settled in Chicago, which resulted in Marion attending the University of Illinois in 1965.

There he met his future wife and they eventually began a study of the bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses. Following their baptism in 1968, they married and subsequently began Pioneering. They attended the Bible School of Gilead in 1973 and were assigned as Special Pioneers in New Hampshire. Marion was instrumental in helping form two congregations there.

In 1975 he was reassigned to Natchez, Mississippi to help a congregation there. While in Natchez he gave his first talk at a summer convention.

His next assignment was in Luverne, Alabama. This was a small congregation of 30 Publishers that soon saw 7 of them become regular Pioneers. After seven years he was assigned to Valley, Alabama. All this time he was maintaining his Special pioneer hours in the ministry amd also serving as a substitute Circuit Overseer.

He loved the ministry and the brothers, so expending his energy this way was a joy to him.

Even during the present pandemic he conducted several Bible studies and wrote many letters to people he had previously contacted.

Over the years he had developed a reputation for faithfully visiting friends who were hospitalized. He was often greeted by “we knew you would come” when he walked into the hospital room. He would spend many hours doing shepherding work month and was always available to encourage the friends in the ministry.

Many brothers and sisters have expressed how much they will miss him and his energetic zeal for the ministry.

Marion was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Charlotte Tabor. He is survived by his wife, Gerre Tabor; brothers, Andy Tabor (Stephanie) and Vincent Tabor (Ann); sister, Christine Tabor Losik; niece and nephew, Faye and Todd; great nieces, Lottie and Nora; several aunts and cousins in Indiana.

A virtual memorial service via Zoom will be held on Saturday, December 18th at 2:00 PM (EST). Brother Hernando Gomez will officiate. Marion’s family will distribute the Zoom address.
