Mary Charlotte Carmichael

     It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mary Charlotte Carmichael, age 85, who died on Wednesday, June 11th, 2025, just shy of her 86th birthday. Born on June 18th, 1939, Charlotte was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. Charlotte was preceded in death by her devoted husband, John Robert Carmichael; her parents, L.F. Lanier, Sr. and Mary Louise Lanier; and her brother, L.F. Lanier, Jr. She is survived by her loving children: Robert Carmichael and his wife Leta, Luanne Barber and her husband Jerry, and Mark Carmichael and his wife Lara. Charlotte also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Bishop Carmichael and his wife Ann Marie, Baylee Carmichael, Andrew Barber and his wife Brittany, Lindsey Mitchell and her husband Brandon, and Anna Carmichael. She is also survived by her beloved great-grandchildren: Austin Barber, Ava Barber, and Kaden Mitchell, and her special niece, Tara Lanier Carter and her husband Jason.

     The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Charlotte’s devoted caregivers, Angie, Felicia, Elaine, and Keisha, for their compassionate care. Charlotte will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. Her presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.

     Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 13th, 2025, with a visitation at Johnson-Brown Funeral Home in Valley, Alabama, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Graveside services will follow at Shawmut Cemetery in Valley, Alabama. Pastor Mark McCarty will officiate.
