Mary Jo Reaves Obituary

Mary Jo Reaves, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025, in Luverne, Alabama, enveloped by the warmth of her loving family. Born on August 17, 1940, Mary Jo's life was a rich tapestry woven with love, selflessness, and an unwavering commitment to her loved ones. Her radiant spirit and gentle nature left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.

She was the beloved matriarch of her family, survived by her devoted son, Bill Reaves, and his wife Kristie, her cherished grandchildren, Will Reaves and Alexis Reaves, who were the light of her life. Mary Jo's legacy of love extends to her sister-in-laws, Jeanette Reaves and Billy Faye Perry, along with countless nieces and nephews. Her enduring influence will be felt through generations.

Mary Jo was preceded in death by her soulmate, William Darrell Reaves, with whom she shared forty-four blissful years of marriage. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect, setting a profound example for their family.

Throughout her eighty-four years, Mary Jo was the epitome of love and devotion. Her compassion knew no bounds, and she dedicated her life to nurturing the bonds of family and community. Her smile could light up any room, and her generosity lifted the spirits of those around her. Mary Jo's life was filled with simple pleasures; she enjoyed traveling around the country with friends and family, a simple family gathering, or a quiet evening at home with those she loved. These moments were the cornerstones of her joy.

Mary Jo's nurturing touch extended beyond the confines of her home. She was a friend to many, offering a listening ear and a shoulder to lean on whenever life's challenges arose. Her wisdom, garnered from a lifetime of rich experiences, was eagerly sought out by friends and family alike.

As we bid farewell to Mary Jo, we are consoled by the memories we hold dear and the love she spread so freely. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, and her story will be recounted with smiles and fondness. The world was a better place because Mary Jo Reaves was in it, and her legacy will persist in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her journey through life was a testament to the enduring power of a loving heart, and she will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
