Mary L. Reed Obituary

     Mrs. Mary L. Reed, age 85, of Lanett, Alabama passed away on Friday, March 13th, 2020 at Bethany House in Auburn, Alabama. She was born on April 19th, 1934 in Langdale, Alabama to the late Willie Frank Wadkins and Mary Haralson Wadkins.

     Mrs. Reed is survived by her husband, Arthur H. Reed; children, Timothy L. (Belinda) Reed, Sheila Scroggins, and Melissa (Jody) Avooske; brother, Ralph Wadkins; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Harold Wayne Reed (U.S.M.C. Ret.); grandson, Ben Reed; five brothers and one sister.

     Mrs. Reed was an active member of Community Chapel Church of God. She volunteered at Valley Haven School for many years where one year, she won the Volunteer of the Year Award. She worked for many years as an LPN at Lanier Memorial Hospital. She traveled overseas with her husband while he served in the military. She enjoyed doing ceramics and taking her grandchildren to church.

     Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 16th, 2020 at 11:00 AM (EDT) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Interment will follow in Johnson Memorial Gardens. The Reverend Floyd Aikens will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM (EDT) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Valley Haven School in her memory.
