Melissa Robin Borders, affectionately known as Melissa to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024, in Auburn, Alabama, at the age of 49.
Born on June 17, 1975, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, Melissa's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and creativity. Melissa's journey began as the cherished daughter of Patricia Jean Sutherland and Allen Bickers, and she grew up surrounded by the warmth of her family.
Although she was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her step-father, Gene Autry “Billy” Forest, and nephew, Zachary Allen Bakers, the values they instilled in her shone brightly throughout her life.
Melissa's heart was always her home, and it was there that she cultivated a beautiful life with her beloved husband, Lawrence Lee Borders. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Kate- Lynne Elizabeth Borders, Destiny Jean Nichols Scott (married to Bobby), and Shane Douglas Allen Nichols (married to Katelyn). Melissa's role as a grandmother to Blaze Allen Nichols, Lydia Raven Nichols, and Nova-Lee Rose Nichols, and Lillie-Anne Grace Scott was one of her greatest joys, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Her love extended to her sisters, Virginia Lynn Bickers and Heather Lenseigne (married to Phillip), and she held a special place in her heart for her niece, Amelia Baker, and nephews, Austin Baker, Zachary Allen Baker, Bradley Lenseigne, and Briton Lenseigne. Melissa's family was the cornerstone of her life, and she nurtured each relationship with care and devotion.
Melissa's faith was a guiding light in her life, and she found solace and strength in her church community. Her commitment to her faith was evident in her actions and the way she lived her life every day.
A creative soul, Melissa had a passion for arts and crafts, which allowed her to express her love for beauty and detail. Her artistic talents brought joy not only to her but to everyone who had the pleasure of witnessing her creations.
Those who knew Melissa would describe her as loving above all else. Her presence was a source of comfort and happiness to her family and friends. She had the unique ability to make each person feel valued and loved, and her legacy of kindness and compassion will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Melissa's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, faith, and creativity. As we say goodbye to this remarkable woman, we celebrate the immeasurable impact she had on our lives. Her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us, and her memory will be cherished forever. We take comfort in knowing that Melissa is now at peace, reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her. Her light will never fade, and her story will be told for generations to come.
Melissa Robin Borders will be deeply missed, but her love will remain with us always.
