Michael Lee Myhand

     We come to you with heavy hearts as we announce the passing of Michael Lee Myhand, a cherished soul known for his generous spirit and courageous heart, who left us on the 26th of September 2024. Michael, who preferred to go by his first name, was 54 years old and a lifelong resident of Alabama, born in Langdale and departing in Opelika. His journey on this earth was marked by unwavering friendship, a passion for the simple joys in life, and an unassuming nature that resonated deeply with all who knew him.

     Michael's warmth and benevolent presence will be deeply missed by his loving mother, Faye Ingram; his faithful dog, Bell; his brothers, James Edward and Michael Dakota Myhand; his beloved daughter, Shyra Dehart; and his adored granddaughter, Bailey Marie Perry. His life was a tapestry of strong bonds with his dear friends Mandie Brooks, Earnie Carrol, Dani Little, Michael Shelnut, and David Bell. He joins his stepfather, Mousie Ingram, and his father, Philip Edward Myhand, who preceded him in death.

     A man whose days were filled with purpose, Michael was an esteemed member of the Tallaco K-9 Unit, reflecting his lifelong love for dogs and commitment to helping others. His kindness was his signature, as he always lent a helping hand without expecting anything in return. Michael's zest for life was unmistakable — a true 'go-getter.' He was an avid collector of antiques, a devotee of Mother Nature enjoying the river and the ocean, and an enthusiast who spent countless hours hunting for arrowheads. He was a fervent University of Alabama fan and relished the tranquility of fishing.

     Michael leaves behind a legacy characterized by the three words that best described him: friendly, generous, and courageous. He approached life with a warm smile, open arms, and an adventurous spirit that will continue to inspire those he touched in his journey.

     A memorial service for Michael will be held on Saturday, October 26th, 2024, at 12:00 Noon EDT at Valley Baptist Church.
