Mickey Eugene Hamil Obituary

Mickey Eugene Hamil, known affectionately as Mickey, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025, in Valley, Alabama, at the age of 67. Born on September 8, 1957, in Langdale, Alabama, Mickey was a loving husband, devoted father, adoring grandfather, caring brother, and a friend to all who knew him.

He leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Cindy Hamil, who he loved deeply and cherished every moment with. Together, they raised a caring son, Trent Hamil, who is married to Madison. One of Mickey's greatest joys was his grandson, Harrison, whose adventures brought a sparkle to his eyes. Mickey's sisters, Pam Byrd, with her husband Dennis, and Angie Collier, with her husband Billy, will fondly remember their brother's kindness and zest for life. He was a beloved uncle to his nieces and nephews, leaving a legacy of warmth and joy.

Mickey’s work as a maintenance technician at Sejong Georgia in LaGrange, Georgia, showcased his incredible skill with his hands and his dedication to his craft. His talents rendered repairmen nearly unnecessary for his family, a testament to his handiness and resourcefulness. Prior to working for Sejong Georgia Mickey worked for 31 years for West Point Stevens. Mickey was a faithful attendee of Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church in Opelika, Alabama, where he shared his love for music as the former music director.

Beyond his professional life and church involvement, Mickey’s interests were vast and vibrant. His passion for music was evident, not only in his role at church but also in his talent for writing music. An outdoorsman at heart, he found solace and joy in nature. Mickey was also fond of cooking, with his signature chicken and dumplings being a family favorite.

Kind, friendly, and exceptionally handy, Mickey will be remembered as a man who brought light and love into every space he inhabited. His memory will be treasured and kept alive in the countless lives he touched. Mickey’s laughter, stories, and the melodies he created will resonate with friends and family, leaving behind a symphony of cherished memories.

Funeral services for Mickey will be held on Friday, February 7th, 2025, at 2:30 PM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Interment will follow in Fairfax Cemetery.
