Mildred Emogene Mashburn Hodnett, affectionately known as Mildred, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2023, in Auburn, Alabama. Born on December 31, 1929, in Birmingham, Alabama, Mildred lived a life full of love, faith, and gentleness, touching the hearts of all who knew her.
Mildred was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She is survived by her son, Daniel Ray Hill (Vestalene), eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews, who will remember her fondly. She was preceded in death by two sons, Steve Hill and David Hill.
Mildred was a hardworking woman who dedicated 34 years of her life to her career as a beautician. Her clients admired her for her gentle touch and warm personality. Her retirement marked the end of a fulfilling career, but it also marked the beginning of a new chapter in her life, one filled with family, faith, and love.
Christmas was Mildred's favorite time of the year. She loved the joy and warmth that the holiday season brought, and she made it a point to ensure that everyone in her family received a gift. Her large family Christmas gatherings were a testament to her love for her family and her generous spirit. These gatherings will continue to be cherished memories for her family.
Mildred was a faithful member of the Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church for the Deaf and Hearing. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she found great joy in her church community. She loved her Lord and demonstrated her faith through her actions, always treating others with kindness and respect.
Mildred was a woman of many virtues, but she will be remembered most for her loving nature, her faith-filled life, and her gentle spirit. She was a beacon of love and faith in her community, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
In her 93 years, Mildred lived a life that was rich in love, faith, and family. She was a woman who loved deeply, believed strongly, and lived gently. Her memory will be cherished by her family, her church community, and all who knew her.
Mildred Emogene Mashburn Hodnett's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and gentleness. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she loved. As we remember Mildred, we celebrate a life well-lived, a faith well-expressed, and a love well-shared.
Funeral services for Mildred will be held on Thursday, August 17th, 2023 at 2:00 PM (EDT) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. The Reverend Ron Williams and the Reverend Raymond Alexander will officiate. Mildred’s Family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 1:00 PM (EDT) until the service hour at the funeral home.
