Mr. Jerry L. Smith

Mr. Jerry L. Smith, age 82, of Salem, Alabama passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at his residence. 

Mr. Smith was born on April 9, 1939, in Chambers County, Alabama.

He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 62 years, Pattie Orange Smith.  The two married on November 1, 1956. In addition, he was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce, and Helen Adams Smith; his brother, Ronnie Smith; his grandson, Bradley Smith; and sister-in-law, Cheryl Orange.

Mr. Smith loved being “Paw Paw” to all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spending time with and talking about his beloved cats, enjoying nature and animals, and watching Alabama football.  He was also an avid hunter and enjoyed trips to Barbour County with his sons, Chris and Marc Smith.  After his retirement from Uniroyal, he was blessed to be able to combine his love of hunting with his talent as a taxidermist.

He is survived by his children, Chris (Denise) Smith, Regina Smith, Shelia (Rusty) Ennis, Marc (Melissa) Smith, and Karen (Mel) Fetner; his grandchildren, Lauren Cooper, Stephanie Smith, Anna Ennis, Jessica (Jacob) Blanton, Matthew (Karen) Smith, Emma (Josh) Sims; his great-grandchildren, Tatum Smith and Makenzie Sims, Ben Cooper, Andrew and Allyson Smith, Gracelyn and Harrison Blanton, Noah and Grant Smith, and Rhett, Rowan, and Eli Sims; his brothers, Harvey (Janice) Smith, Tony (Gina) Smith, and Mike Morgan; his sister-in-law, Cora Smith; his brother-in-law, Charles Orange; and his three cats, Bo, Cricket, and Fancy.
