Mr. Leo Fuller

Mr. Leo Fuller, age 90, of Valley, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, March 24th, 2020 at the Valley Park Manor in Valley.

Mr. Fuller was born in Coffee County, Alabama on July 25th, 1929 to the late Benjamin Porter Fuller and Frances Rebecca Jones Fuller. 

He was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Frances Watkins Fuller; his siblings, Cleone Waldrop, Gennie Ree Watkins, Elether Crawley, Mable Ford, Earline Smith, Dorothy Cox, L.C. Fuller, Ived Fuller, Edlow Fuller, and Eddie B. Jones.

Mr. Fuller was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church in Valley.

Mr. Fuller began his career in the textile mills at the Lanett Mill.  He later transferred to the Riverview Mill and later to the Lanier Mill, where he was one of the first employees of the Lanier Mill installing machinery prior to its opening in 1967.  He spent the remainder of his career at the Lanier Mill retiring after 49 years of service.

He often told stories to his friends and family about his travels with his wife, Frances, that spanned across 48 states, Canada, and Mexico.   In 1956, he and his family drove across country to the west coast to Santa Monica, California, where they lived for one year on the Santa Monica Beach.

His passions and hobbies in life included working on classic muscle cars, going out to dine with his family and friends, the University of Alabama football, and cooking.  He was known for his red velvet cakes and pecan pies.

He is survived by his children, Betty Fuller Merritt (Gordon), Tommy L. Fuller, Tony M. Fuller, James F. Fuller (Becky); siblings, Sanford Fuller (Mary Ann), Valley, Warren Fuller, Opelika; grandchildren, Colby Merritt (Mary Elizabeth), Wadley, Clay Merritt (Mallory), Davenport, Iowa, Cody Fuller, Virginia Beach, VA., Eric Hamil, Blue Ridge, GA.; great grandson, Campbell Merritt.

Due to the current gathering restrictions, funeral services will be privately held.
