Mr. William (Bill) Joseph Hughes Obituary

 

 

Mr. William (Bill) Joseph Hughes, age 82, of West Point, Georgia passed away on Sunday, November 18th, 2018 at his residence.

Mr. Hughes was born on October 18th, 1936 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Martha Choate Schieffelin Hughes and David Benjamin Hughes. He was also preceded in death by his twin brother, David Choate Hughes, and sisters, Nancy Hughes Baker and Martha Anne Hughes Hanson.

Mr. Hughes served in the Air Force Reserve Command at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama.  

From 1965 to 2000, he was the Director of Distributor Sales Manager for the United States with Schlumberger Neptune Meter Company in Tallassee, Alabama.  Mr. Hughes was also a consultant for Schlumberger from 2000 until his retirement in 2011.

Mr. Hughes is survived by his wife of 32 years, Jane Ellen Edwards Hughes, West Point, GA.; his son, William V. Hughes, Jr., Snohomish, WA.; his daughter, Catherine Hughes Shoemaker, Montgomery, AL.; his grandson, Dalton Shoemaker; his granddaughter, Kara Hughes; his sister, Diane Hughes Draughon, Albuquerque, NM.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 27th, 2018 at 2:00P.M. EST at the First United Methodist Church in West Point, Georgia. Dr. John Mattox will officiate the service.  The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday in the West Point Methodist Church Zachry Center from 1:00P.M. EST until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made in his name to the Chattahoochee Humane Society, 3265 Fairfax Bypass, Valley, Alabama 36854 or VIFGA, the Visually Impaired Foundation of Georgia, 6595 Roswell Road NE #224, Atlanta, Georgia 30328.
