Mrs. Billie Ballard Nix

     Billie Ballard Nix, a longtime resident of Valley, Alabama, died July 29, 2023, following a brief illness.
She was 87 years old. 
     Born January 1, 1936, in Omaha, Alabama to Pearl and Jasper Ballard. She loved playing the piano and singing. A 1954 graduate of Valley High School, she briefly studied music at Howard University, (now Samford).
Informed that she had an operatic voice and encouraged to pursue a career in Opera, she chose to raise a family.
Preceded in death by her youngest son, Todd Harper, she leaves her oldest son, Samuel Harper, daughter-in-law, The Reverend Katherine Harper, two grandchildren, a sister, Nancy Allen of Bremen, Georgia, along with her family of friends at Lakewood Senior Living of Valley.

     Graveside services are planned for Friday, August 4, 2023, at Fairfax Cemetery at 11:00 AM. EDT
     In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the American Lung Association.
     Family will meet friends at the graveside.
