Mrs. Billie Jean Jennings, 92, of Valley passed away on Wednesday, May 19th, 2021 at the Diversicare Nursing Home in Lanett.
Mrs. Jennings was born in Langdale, Alabama on March 23rd, 1929 to the late John D. Pippin and Nettie Lee Coley Pippin. She was also preceded in death by her husband Bennie Jennings, her sister, Barbara Ann Pippin, and her brother-in-law, John E. Pippin.
Mrs. Jennings worked for the Alabama Gas Company and later went to work for the Valley Medical Group as a receptionist where she retired from after 25 years of service.
She was a member of the Shawmut United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Jennings enjoyed watching several different type of sporting events including tennis, baseball, golf, and NASCAR racing just to name a few. She especially loved her Atlanta Braves, her Auburn Tigers – War Eagle!, her all-time favorite player Cam Newton, and watching Wimbledon – The Championships.
She is survived by her son, Robert “Bobby” Jennings (Julie), daughter, Benita Jennings Mezick (Darryl); daughter-in-law, Dianne Jennings; grandchildren, Brian Jennings (Lori), Beth Owen (Allen), Leslie Willett (Daniel), Derrick Roberts (Lindsey), Adam Roberts (Melissa), Kelly Mezick (Summer), Kyle Mezick; great-grandchildren, Gavin Jennings, Hudson Jennings, Allen Owen, Andrew Owen, Madison Willet, Gracie Willett, Ella Willett, Andie Roberts, Sam Roberts; nieces and nephews, Carol Fisher, John Pippin, Christine Pippin, Sonny Cantrell; several extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 12:00 P.M. EDT at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home chapel in Valley with interment following in Fairfax Cemetery. The Reverend Randal Hamer and the Reverend Edward Brownlee officiating. Her family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00A.M. EDT until the time of the service.
Mrs. Jennings’ family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Elaine Bridges who provided wonderful care and friendship to Mrs. Jennings and to all the employees of Diversicare – Lanett for the excellent care that they provided.
