Mrs. Ellen McDonald passed away peacefully on May 21, 2023, in Valley, Alabama. Born on March 23, 1938, in Riverview, Alabama, Ellen's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and community.
Ellen was a woman who understood the importance of family and the bonds that hold us together. She was preceded in death by her siblings, David Coulter, George Coulter, and Frances Burnette, as well as her parents, George Coulter and Lucy Myhand Coulter. Ellen's love for her family was evident in her 66-year marriage to her beloved husband, Roger McDonald, and the beautiful family they built together. Ellen is survived by her sons, Rog (Vicky) McDonald and Jim McDonald, her sister Ann Lane, her grandchildren, Casey McDonald, Jamey McDonald, and Will McDonald, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
She was an active member of the Shawmut First Church of the Nazarene, where her faith-filled spirit inspired and uplifted those around her. Ellen's commitment to education and the well-being of children led her to a fulfilling 22-year career with the Chambers County School System, where she served as a teacher's aide. Her passion and dedication to Roger was unwavering in his 52-year career with the Parks and Recreation Department.
Ellen's legacy of love and devotion will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
In remembering Ellen, we are reminded of the power of love, faith, and selflessness. Her life was a testament to the strength of family bonds and the importance of community.
Ellen McDonald’s life was indeed an inspiring message, and her memory will continue to motivate and uplift those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at the Shawmut Nazarene Church at 11:00A.M. EDT 10:00A.M. CDT with interment following in Johnson Memorial Gardens. Her family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00P.M. EDT 5:00P.M. CDT 8:00P.M. EDT. 7:00P.M. CDT.
