Mrs. Marjorie Olene Abney

Mrs. Marjorie Olene Abney, 94, of Valley, AL passed away peacefully at her son’s home in South Carolina surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 14, 2020.

Mrs. Abney was born in Tallapoosa County, AL on October 8, 1925 and moved to Valley in 1938.  She retired from West Point Stevens.  Mrs. Abney was a charter member of Fairview Baptist Church for over 50 years. 

Olene was preceded in death by her husband, S. L. Abney, her parents, W. W. & Blannie Slaughter, sister, Gladys Askew, granddaughter, Robin Abney and son-in-law, McCoy Burdette.

She is survived by her daughter, Becky Burdette, her sons, Leroy (Nancy) Abney & Steve (JoAnne) Abney, grandchildren, Todd (Tressie) Burdette, Vicki (David) Williams, Gina (Robbie) Rogers, Robbie Abney, Marshelia (Terry) Duffey, Ricky Anglin, Kevin (Stephanie) Anglin; 12 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren, and niece, Linda Pittman. 

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2020 at 3:30 PM at Fairfax Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Anglin officiating.  The family will receive friends at the cemetery 15 minutes prior to the service.  Social distance guidelines will apply.
