Sharon Louise Smith Blackman was born in Battle Creek, Michigan and lived the best part of her  young childhood on a 60 acre farm with her paternal grandparents and their Boston terrier,  Buster.  The "crop" was AKC registered bloodhounds, black and tans, and beagles.  Sharon loved dogs until the end of her life.

Moving to Lynn Haven, Florida, when she was about 8 years old, opened up a whole new world for a young farm girl. Suddenly she could go to church after having been raised by an atheist. She was saved in the original  Lynn Haven United Methodist Church and remained active in many churches the rest of her life.

Sharon was a sweet, timid child that bloomed into a social butterfly by her teen years. Until her death Sharon stayed in touch with school friends from Mowat Jr. High and  A. Crawford Mosley High School [class of 1981) in Lynn Haven. She also graduated as a bookkeeper from Tom P. Haney.

Sharon became a single mother when she was just 22.  David Michael was the love of her life.  Later, Sharon married Roger Blackman and helped raise his two children Anita and John.  Roger was a member of the 498th Dust-off unit in Vietnam.  Sharon supported Roger in every way throughout their 33 years together.  They enjoyed their motorcycles, wave riders, camper,  travels, Vietnam veterans group and tiki bar and pool.

Sharon worked her way up in the fast food industry to management as her profession.  She was a caregiver for Roger's mom with Alzheimers.  She was a caregiver for Roger as his health declined due to agent orange in Vietnam.

Sharon is survived by her older sister, Susie Rizzo (Tony), and  son David Dodson (Koral) ,many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a younger sister, Sarah Jane Smith, and her parents Floy and Sy Gray.
