Neva Hope Andrews (Leak, Bone)

     It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Neva Hope Andrews (Leak, Bone) of Phenix City, AL on March 25, 2025, at the age of 78. Neva fought a long and courageous battle with cancer – far surpassing all medical expectations due to her grit, determination and willingness to research.

     Neva was born in June 1946 in Langdale, AL, to Willie Lee and Hope Andrews of Riverview, AL. Neva met the love of her life, Rudolph (Rudy) Leak, Jr. as a girl and they eloped at the age of 16. Neva and Rudy raised three children and had many adventures during their lifetimes, living in numerous states throughout their careers. Neva was a longtime member of First Christian Church of Riverview and then later Mount Zion Methodist Church in Smiths, AL.

     Neva’s passion was genealogy, and she served as the Andrews/Leak family historian and storyteller. She was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and The Jamestowne Society. Neva was known for her steadfast faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her love of family, and her large Christmas gatherings.

     Preceding her in passing was husband Rudolph (Rudy) Leak Jr., daughter Judith (Jude) Leak-Tennant and second husband Lyman Bone.

     Neva is survived by: sons Jonathan (Denise) Leak of Woodstock GA, Tommy (Kelli) Leak of Phenix City AL, sister Thalia Newton, 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

     The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Mount Zion Methodist Church, P.O. Box 205, Smiths Station, AL 36877.

     Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home at 3700 20th Ave, Valley, AL 36854. Visitation for friends and family will be at 1:30 pm EDT with memorial service at 2:30 pm EDT in the chapel. A brief grave side service will immediately follow at Fairview Cemetery in Valley, AL.
