Peggy was a woman of great intellect and passion. She earned her Master’s in Education and dedicated her life to the noble profession of teaching. She served the Lanett City Schools for many years, where she was not just an educator, but a mentor, a guide, and a friend to her students. Her commitment to education was unwavering, and her influence extended far beyond the classroom. She was a true champion of learning, inspiring countless students to reach their full potential.
Peggy's love for life was evident in her interests. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, like tending to her garden. Her garden was a reflection of her - vibrant, nurturing, and full of life. Peggy was also known for her love of dining out with her friends. These gatherings were not just about food, but about sharing laughter, stories, and creating memories.
Peggy was a woman of faith. She was a member of the Remnant of Hope Church in Valley, Alabama. Her faith was a source of strength and comfort to her, and she lived her life guided by the principles of love, kindness, and compassion.
Above all, Peggy was a family woman. She was a loving mother to her daughter, Eva Thomas (Jimmy), and a doting grandmother to Trinity and Claire McNally. Her nephew, Frank Ponder III (Susan), and nieces, Patricia Ponder Millard (Dan), Jane Ponder Murphy, and Jean Ponder, along with a host of additional nieces and nephews, were all recipients of her unconditional love. Peggy's family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. In addition to Peggy’s family, she is survived by numerous close friends.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Beach, Jr.; parents, Frank Ponder, Sr. and Wilma Ponder; and brother, Frank Ponder, Jr.
Peggy's kindness was legendary. Those who were fortunate enough to know her can attest that they never heard her utter a negative word about anyone. She believed in the goodness of people and always saw the best in everyone. Her positive outlook was infectious, and she had a unique ability to uplift those around her.

Funeral services for Peggy will be held on Sunday, August 13th, 2023 at 2:00 PM (EDT) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. The Reverend Donnie Erwin-Brown will officiate. Peggy’s family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1:00 PM (EDT) until the service hour at the funeral home.
