Ralph Eugene Collins, Sr. of Lanett, Alabama passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026 at the age of 63.
He leaves behind his mother, Gloria P. Johnson of Foley, AL, his son, Ralph Eugene (Gene) Collins, Jr. (Maribel) of Yelm, WA, daughter, Amanda Prieto of El Paso, TX, his brother, Roy H. (Chuck) Collins, Jr. (Michele), nieces, Lucy and Nina Collins of Foley, AL, his uncle, Woodrow (Jr.) W. Pettis (Shirley), aunts Peggy Peyton, Ellen Oliver (Gary), Lanell Walker (Mark) and special friends, Jeremy and Hollye Colley.
Mr. Collins served in the U.S. Navy and retired from J C Colley Trucking in Valley, AL where he was a class A driver.
Ralph loved his children and was proud of them and all they accomplished. His face would light up whenever he spoke about them. He found great peace in nature and loved spending time fishing, feeding fish off the dock, or simply enjoying the beauty around him.
Ralph often shared fond memories of working at his grandfather's restaurant, Johnny's Smokehouse, on the Mississippi Gulf Coast during his younger years-an experience that sparked his lifelong love of fishing, seafood, and life along the water. Even in the final years of his trucking career, he intentionally chose a Harahan, Louisiana route so he could remain close to the coast, often stopping in places like Pass Christian, Mississippi along the way. He also enjoyed vacationing in Treasure Island Florida, another place that brought him great joy. On many of his trips through Louisiana he would return home with a gallon or two of seafood gumbo.
A memorial will be held in Foley, AL in the near future.
