Obituary

     Ray "Bubba" Lamar Burdette, age 64 of Cusseta, Alabama, passed away in his home on August 1, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. 

      Ray was born in Valley, Alabama on August 11, 1958, to the late Glenn and Myrl Burdette. 

     Ray was preceded in death by wife, Barbara Denise Burdette, mother, Myrl W. Burdette, father, Glenn L. Burdette, brother, Roger Corley, and daughter in law, Christy Burdette. 

     Ray is survived in death by son, Curtis Burdette; son, Steven (Crystal) Burdette; son, Jonathan (Brandi) Williams; son, Jeremy Nix; sister, Judy Smith; brother, Randy Burdette; sister, Lorree Bolton; grandchildren, Brooklyn (Levi) Greenleaf, Jacob Burdette, Alexis Vallia, Austin (Koreina) Vallia, Caden Hornsby, Cason Hornsby, Josh Burdette, Kayleigh Burdette, Hunter Burdette, Justin Williams, Lila Williams, Alaina (Riley) Garner, Alexis Nix, Ashlynn Nix, Addison Nix; and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.           

     Ray was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a cherished member of a large, loving, and loud family. As a man of deep faith, when well and able, Ray attended Hopewell Primitive Baptist Church of Opelika, Alabama. He enjoyed his work with Saylor Logging Company, for his dear friend, Phillip Saylor. Ray spent his spare time gardening, watching western shows, and going to the mud races. Ray has left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him, and he will be greatly missed.

     Funeral services will be Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. EDT 9:00 A.M. CDT at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.  The Reverends Jacob Burdette and Phillip Saylor will be officiating. Interment will follow in Hephzibah Cemetery in Opelika.  Ray's family will be receiving friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 P.M. EDT until 8:00 P.M. EDT 5:00 P.M. CDT - 7:00 P.M. CDT.
