Rebecca Sorrell Obituary

Rebecca Sorrell, and a symbol of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2024, in LaFayette, Alabama. Born on August 2, 1937, in Plant City, Alabama, Rebecca's life was a testament to the power of gentle strength and unwavering love.

Rebecca, known affectionately to all as just that, is survived by a loving family that includes her devoted husband of 64 and a half years, Roger Sorrell, her son Roger Lynwood Sorrell, her daughter Robyn Nicole Sorrell, and her adored grandchildren Bailey Rebecca Sorrell and Brody Lyn Sorrell. She also leaves behind her sister Nancy Ellen Cagle, her niece Becky Sanders and her husband Jeff, as well as her great-niece Laura Beth Sanders and great-nephew Scott Sanders. Rebecca's life was built on the foundation laid by her late parents, William H. and Ila Mae Crawley, and she was preceded in death by her brothers, Woodson Crawley and Milford Crawley.

Rebecca's spirit was woven into the fabric of her community through her dedicated service at the Plant City Baptist Church, where she was a longstanding member. Her love for children shone brightly during her years at Shawmut Baptist Daycare, where she touched the lives of many with her gentle guidance and nurturing heart.

Her interests were a reflection of her inner beauty; Rebecca cherished her Bible, which was a source of strength and inspiration throughout her life. Her family was the center of her universe, and she poured her love into every moment spent with them, especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Rebecca's passion for cooking brought warmth and joy to family gatherings, and her flower garden was a vibrant tapestry that mirrored the care and attention she invested in all living things.

Those who knew Rebecca would describe her as the epitome of kindness, a gentle soul who approached every person and situation with a loving heart. Her presence was a comfort to those around her, and her legacy is one of compassion and grace that will continue to resonate through the lives of those she touched.

As we say farewell to Rebecca Sorrell, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a heart that gave so generously. Her spirit will forever be a guiding light to all who were blessed to know her. Rebecca's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were graced by her presence.
