Rebecca A. "Becky" Hood Obituary

Rebecca A. "Becky" Hood, a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2023, in LaGrange, Georgia. Born on July 7, 1944, in West Point, Georgia, Becky was known for her friendly and thoughtful nature, which endeared her to all who knew her.

Becky was a dedicated nurse in the community for many years, providing compassionate care to her patients and their families. Her commitment to her profession was evident in the lasting relationships she formed with her colleagues and the countless lives she touched through her work.

Becky was a devoted member of Long Cane Methodist Church in LaGrange for most of her life and was also currently a member of Ayers Methodist Church in LaGrange. She was an active church member wherever she attended, contributing her time and talents to various ministries and outreach programs. Her strong faith and love for her church family were an inspiration to all who knew her. Becky was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Alabama Rural Letter Carriers Association Auxiliary for many years.

Family was at the heart of Becky's life, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. She is survived by her daughter, Angie Sams (Robert); grandchildren, Nikki Sams, Spencer Sams, and Zack Hood; special cousin, Mary Lane; numerous extended family members; and special friend and CNA, Mary Reese. Becky's love for her family was evident in her unwavering support and attendance at her grandchildren's sporting events, where she could often be found cheering them on from the sidelines.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hood; son, Billy Hood; parents, David and Doris Tyler; siblings, Lanelle Lane and Gene Tyler.

Becky's interests extended beyond her family and career, as she was an avid animal lover and will be missed by her beloved dog, Annie. She enjoyed going camping. She was also a passionate Auburn University fan, enjoying tailgating at Auburn events with her family and friends. Her enthusiasm for her favorite team was contagious, and she was lovingly referred to as "Grandma Becky" and "Mama Hood" by her family and friends.

In addition to her many interests, Becky was known for her friendly and thoughtful nature. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued, and her warm smile and kind words will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
