Regina G. Rutledge Obituary

We come together today to celebrate the life of Regina G. Rutledge, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who left us on January 4th, 2024. Regina, a vibrant soul known for her loving nature and infectious smile, was born on February 23rd, 1959, in Langdale, Alabama. She passed away peacefully in Atlanta, Georgia, surrounded by the love of her family.

Regina's early years in Langdale laid the foundation for a life full of love, laughter, and learning. She was a proud graduate of Southern Union State Community College and furthered her education at Auburn University. Her passion for knowledge was matched only by her love for her family and her zest for life.

She is survived by her devoted son, Chesley Rutledge, Jr., (Shay), and her cherished grandchildren, Jayden, Addi, and Ashlyn Rutledge. Regina's legacy continues through her loving sister, Susan Newman, and her husband Tracy, as well as her nieces and nephews, Ashley White (Andrew), Lacy Newman, and Tracy Newman, Jr. (Morgan), and her adored great-nieces and nephews, Taylor, Luke, and Olivia White.

Regina was preceded in death by her husband, Chesley Rutledge, and her parents, Christeen and Aron C. Haynes. Her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she embraced every moment with them, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

Regina's interests were as diverse as they were passionate. She was an animal lover who found joy in the companionship of her furry friends. Traveling was another of her pleasures, as she sought adventure and new experiences in every corner of the world. Regina's love for motorcycles showcased her adventurous spirit and her appreciation for the freedom of the open road.

A true Auburn Tigers fan, Regina bled orange and blue. She reveled in the camaraderie and excitement of the games, embodying the spirit of sportsmanship and community. Her sense of humor was unmatched, and she was always ready with a good joke or a playful banter, bringing laughter and lightness to those around her.

Regina's interest in local history was profound, and she enjoyed visiting historic sites, learning about the past, and sharing stories with others. She embraced her role as the "Queen Bee" of Huguley, a title that reflected her warm and commanding presence.

Her love for Christmas and watching fireworks were simple joys that spoke to her appreciation for tradition and celebration. Regina's smile was indeed infectious, capable of brightening the darkest of rooms and lifting the spirits of all who were lucky enough to witness it.

As we say goodbye to Regina G. Rutledge, we honor a life lived to the fullest, a life rich with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to family and friends. Her memory will live on in the stories we share, the traditions we continue, and the love we carry forward. Regina's legacy is one of joy, kindness, and an enduring smile that will forever be remembered by those who loved her.
