Reverend G. Larry Scales and Sandra Joan Scales

     A graveside memorial service for Rev. G. Larry Scales and Sandra Joan Scales will be held at Fairfax Cemetery in Valley, Alabama, at 1 p.m. (EST) on December 14.

     Rev. Scales was born February 18, 1946, in Langdale, Alabama to the late George and Jeannette Scales. A graduate of the University of Montevallo and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, he served as missionary in Tanzania and as pastor to several Southern Baptist churches, including, most recently, Big Stevens Creek Baptist Church and Levels Baptist Church. His wife of 55 years, Sandra Scales, was born August 3, 1947, in Birmingham, AL, to the late Woodrow and Mary Green. She also served as a missionary before pursuing a career in elementary teaching. Larry and Sandra shared a 55-year marriage defined by their commitment to one another and their family. They enjoyed traveling, reading, and numerous creative pursuits. Larry and Sandra are survived by their only daughter, Rebecca Scales, Larry by his sisters Judy Terry and Pat Scales, and by their nieces Laura Terry, Melissa Terry Fish, Krista Demos, and nephew J. Kelvin Terry.
