Richard Ballard

     Richard Ballard, age 77, was granted his angel wings on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at his residence.  His final days were spent surrounded by his family and friends.

     Richard started his career in community recreation when he was seventeen years old.  He was in recreation management since 1965, most of that time with West Point Pepperell community programs. He was in Lanett from 1965 to 1975, then in other communities in Valley before he coached in his many years of service.

     He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Gene Ballard; his daughter, Denise Reaves, son-in-law, Ronald Reaves, his grandson and granddaughters, Blake, Anslee and Alyssa Reaves, his sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Ronnie Meigs, nephew and great nephew, Casey and David Meigs.

    Richard was a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church, Valley, Alabama. A Celebration of Richard’s life will be held at Fairview Baptist Church on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. EST with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service.  The Reverend Carl Benedict will be reflecting on Richard’s life.

   In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Richard’s memory to Fairview Baptist Church, 600 River Road, Valley, Alabama 36854.
