Mr. Richard Douglas Parker, age 82, of Valley, Alabama passed away on Friday, March 10th, 2023 at his residence.
Mr. Parker was born on May 31st, 1940 in LaGrange, Georgia to the late Thomas Jefferson Parker and Mary Eva Parker. He was a member of Roper Heights Church of Christ in West Point, Georgia. He enjoyed fishing, camping, horses and listening to gospel singings. He loved traveling with his wife and watching Alabama football.
Mr. Parker is survived by his wife, Ann Parker; Alesia Wessinger (Louie); Lisa Herren (Chuck), Todd Carroll; granddaughters, Sunny Herren and Ashley Carroll; great granddaughter, Journey Herren; sister, Linda Lee Parker Haynes; sisters-in-law, Betty Lowe Parker and Faye Parker; a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Thomas Jefferson Parker, Jr., William Edward Parker, Benny Stephen Parker, Mary Ann Parker Thompson, Peggy Joyce Parker Harris, Larry E. Parker, Ronald Parker, and Billy Ray Parker.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 13th, 2023 at 2:00 PM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Interment will follow in Harmony Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Michael Stiggers will officiate. Mr. Parker’s family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 1:00 PM (EST) until the service hour at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
Mr. Parker’s family would like to extend a special thanks to Lea and the staff of Chattahoochee Hospice for the kind and loving care they provided.
