Richard Elmo Hudson III, 82, of West Point, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. He was born in Sylacauga, Alabama to the late Sophia Irene Yielding and Richard Elmo Hudson, Jr.
Growing up in West Point, Richard was known as “Dickie” among his friends and fellow graduates of West Point High School.
Richard is survived by his only child, daughter Naomi Wadkins (Russell) of Valley, Alabama; his grandchildren, John Richard of Huntsville, Alabama and Sarah Catherine of Troy, Alabama. He is also survived by his brother, John David Hudson (Brenda) of Hogansville, Georgia.
He will be lovingly remembered as someone who found joy in life’s simple pleasures—time on the golf course, the excitement of travel, and the companionship of his beloved dogs. He leaves behind warm memories that will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
