Robert Lee Moore, Age 87 of Valley, passed from the arms of his daughter into the arms of Jesus on Monday morning, April 13, 2026.
Robert was born on February 7, 1939, in Langdale, AL, to James Claude Moore and Luddie Mae Folds Moore. He was a resident of the Shawmut and Lake Harding communities.
Mr. Moore graduated Valley High School in 1957 and married his high-school, and lifelong sweetheart, Joan Daniel Moore in 1958. They were both active members of Shawmut First Baptist Church until their passing. Mr. Moore retired from Fairfax Mill and devoted his retirement years to his wife, Joan, his daughter Janet, and his two grandchildren.
Mr. Moore enjoyed playing men’s softball on the Shawmut Circle in his younger years. He also enjoyed fishing, playing dominoes, and working in his yard. He was known by many and always had a good story or memory to tell.
Mr. Moore is survived by his daughter, Janet and her husband Joe Howell, and his two grandchildren: Susan Nickerson and Jason Nickerson. He is also survived by his nephews, Ricky Whitehead and Randy (Linda) Whitehead, along with numerous cousins that he enjoyed spending time with.
Funeral services for Mr. Moore will be held on Saturday, April 18th, 2026, at 11:00 AM (EDT) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Interment will follow in Fairfax Cemetery. Pastors Kevin James, Chuck Anderson, and Chad Folds will be officiating. Mr. Moore’s family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM (EDT) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
