Mr. Roger Nixon, 82, of Valley, Alabama passed away on Monday, July 5th, 2021, at his residence. He was born on January 17th, 1939, in Chambers County, Alabama to the late Bill and Gladys Nixon.
Mr. Nixon is survived by his daughters, Wanda Nixon White (Wayne) of Valley and Nancy Nixon Poole (Ken) of the Lake Harding Community, Alabama; grandchildren, Jonathan Thompson, Lindsey White, Jon-Morgan Poole, and Kensley Poole; great-grandchildren, Bryant Thompson, Jordan Thompson, Maranda Thompson, Seth King, and Gabriel Day; sisters, Rita Nixon Ray (Jim) of Helena, Alabama and Judy Bailey Edwards of Valley; special friend, Brenda Ray; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, William Rodney Nixon; and brother-in-law, Frank Edwards.
Mr. Nixon was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed attending services at Calvary Baptist Church and Harrington Heights Methodist Church. He enjoyed music and was an avid outdoorsman who loved nature and fishing. He was a laid-back gentleman who always had a smile of his face.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 9th, 2021, at 11:00 AM (EDT) at the graveside in Oakwood Cemetery in Lanett, Alabama. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM (EDT) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made in memory of Mr. Nixon to one’s favorite charity.
