Sarah Turner Smith

Sarah Turner Smith, 75, of Opelika, Alabama passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.

Mrs. Smith was born on April 8, 1948 in Langdale, Alabama to the late William Turner and Maggie Dollar Turner.  She was also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Richard Wayne Smith.

Mrs. Smith was affectionately known to friends and family as “Mama” or “Nana”.

Mrs. Smith loved her family, she loved reading, crafting, sharing recipes, and ideas with her children.  

She was an excellent cook and had a “green thumb” when it came to her houseplants and flowers.

She is survived by her children, Alan Wayne Smith, Michael Calvin Smith, Bryan David Smith, Robert Vaughn Smith, Stephanie Irene Midkiff, Margaret Diana McIntire, and Jennifer Lynn Smith; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
