Sherryl Joy Bassett

Mrs. Sherryl Joy Bassett, 75, a resident of Valley, AL passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at EAMC Opelika.  Graveside services will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 1:00 PM EST at Hillcrest Cemetery in Lanett.  Family and friends will gather at the cemetery.  Those attending are asked to observe the CDC & ADPH guidelines regarding the use of mask and social distancing. 

Mrs. Bassett is survived by her son, Billy Bassett, grandchildren, Brittany Mason (Bryant)Kady Bassett, Joshua Bassett, Chelsea Bassett, Cheyenne McDaniel (Brad), & Montana Duffey; great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Danyale, Aubri, Amber, & Jakob Mason and Waylan & Marlin McDaniel; brother, Darryl Rodgers; and sister, Tammy Rodgers.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Harless “Hop” Bassett, daughter, Debra Bassett, brother, Ronnie Rodgers, and sisters, Linda Bassett, and Phyllis Crowder.

She was born in Langdale on October 8, 1945 and retired from the Fairfax Mill. She enjoyed watching Turner Classic Movies, playing with great grandkids, playing solitaire, spending time with her family, drinking her A & W Root Beer, and going out to eat at San Marcos and Red Lobster.

She had the biggest heart and believed in being kind to others.
