Sydelle Story

Sydelle Story, 78, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, March 13, 2025.

Sydelle is preceded in death by her son, Jeff McLendon; brother, Dwayne Story; parents, Henry Alvin and Marie Story; grandparents, Arthur and Stella Colley, Joe and Alice Story.

A celebration of Sydelle’s Homegoing will be held, 11:00 A.M.,Monday, March 17, 2025 in the Chapel of Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Sydelle leaves behind, sister, Denise Philpott, who was with her through good times as well as bad. Sister, Darlaine Walker; daughters, Phaedra Childers (David), and Medea Artolachepe (Michelle); grandchildren, Anna McLendon (Jerimiah) and Adam Childers; great grandson, Preston McLendon.

Sydelle believed prayer and God guided her life journey and God gave her the strength to carry on through difficult times. In good times she never forgot the many Blessings The Good Lord bestowed on her and her family; always thanking God for His Mercy and Grace. She loved her church and her church family of Riverview Baptist Church.

Her life was filled with many adventures nationally as well as internationally. History and Historical sites were uppermost on her agenda. European destinations provided the most interesting trips and tours. Sydelle also enjoyed crafting, maintaining her yard/landscaping, volunteering, helping others, and loved her family and friends. Her two grandchildren and her great grandson were the light of her life.
