Teresa Diane Flournoy, age 67, a cherished figure of the Valley community, gently passed away surrounded by the love of her family on July 19, 2025, in Opelika, AL. Born in Valley, AL, on May 21, 1958, Teresa's life was a testament to love, kindness, and the joy of family, which always stood at the center of her world.
Teresa's grace and warmth touched many throughout her fruitful life. Everyone who knew her would speak of her nurturing spirit, a kindness that knew no bounds, and an ability to love unconditionally. These enduring qualities were the cornerstones upon which she built her life and her relationship with all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She leaves behind a loving family, her adoring daughter, Teri (Chris Frazier) Flournoy, and her son Scott Flournoy, who found in her not just a mother but a beacon of strength and comfort. Teresa's legacy lives on through her granddaughters, Kinsley, partnered with Hunter Oliver, and Raylee Chadwick, her grandson, Tristyn Maddux, and her great-granddaughter, Aalayah Oliver. These young lives will carry on the light of her spirit and the teachings of her generous heart.
Teresa's brother, Jimmy Hattaway and his wife Kathy, mourn the loss of their sister, alongside her sister, Brenda Austin. Her loving nature and wise counsel will also be deeply missed by her niece, Christy Brantley and her husband James, her nephew Michael Hattaway and niece Selena, and her great niece, Heaven Brantley, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
Preceded in death by her husband, Steven Flournoy, mother, Mamie Lois Flaws, father, Jimmie Lawrence Hattaway, Sr., her brother, Garon Tidwell, and nephew Jeffrey Austin and brother-in-law Joe Mac Austin, Teresa now joins them, leaving a legacy of love that is vivid in the memories and lives of those she touched. Through stories, laughter, and shared moments, Teresa's family finds comfort in knowing that her spirit will forever be a guiding light.
Teresa Diane Flournoy's life will always stand as an emblem of what it means to give and receive love. As her family and friends bid her farewell on this earthly journey, they celebrate the profound impact she made on each and every life she encountered. Safe in the arms of eternity, Teresa's spirit continues to resonate in the hearts she has left behind, a vibrant echo of her loving and kind existence. Her life was a journey of giving, and her story does not end here, for the love she gave will ripple through generations, in every kind word, every gentle touch, and every act of generosity she inspired.
