Torri Ann Wood, 51, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at East Alabama Medical Center.
Torri was born January 20, 1970 to Wayne and Barbara Yarbrough. She received her degree in nursing, and for the past 25 years, she touched many who were in her care. She was so personable and would sit, talk and even bring gifts to her patients. She had such a positive, lasting impact on anyone who knew her. She was voted ‘Sweetest’ as her Senior Superlative at Valley High School, and she lived up to that by being there as either a shoulder to cry on or sharing her many gifts to everyone in her life.
Torri loved to laugh, even at herself. It was rare to see her without a smile on her face. She cracked jokes constantly and was always having a good time.
One of Torri’s favorite things to do was going to Walmart, Lowe’s or Home Depot to buy mostly dead, clearance flowers that were ready to be thrown away and bring them back to life. Her porch was always overflowing with big, beautiful blooms she had revived.
Torri was most proud of being a mom and being Glamma to her six beautiful grandchildren. Her house was rarely quiet from the giggles they all shared. She loved to participate in any activity that involved them.
She is survived by her parents, her husband, Allen ‘Sam’ Wood, children, Nic and Kammy Hilderbrand, Blake and Mindy Cotter, Haley and Grant Rutland, Kaylee Manley, and Erika Wood. Grandchildren, Kamryn, Rhett, Aly, Tate, Blaire, Sophia and due in January Lilly Ann. Sisters, Tonia and Dean Danford and Tara and Bobby Wilkie, and many more in the Yarbrough, Clanton and Wood families.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Theo and Irene Clanton and Olin and Maggie Yarbrough and nephew, Jared Danford.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 10th, 2021 at 2:00 PM (EDT) at the Huguley United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Fairfax Cemetery. The Reverend Lon Hurst will officiate.
